Meeting on women in community policing

Alwaleed Relief and Human Development Organization held a meeting with heads of civil society organizations, activists, and community police officers in Fallujah District to develop appropriate criteria for selecting women to serve in the Community Police Department. A follow-up visit will be made to the Director of Community Police in Anbar Governorate to discuss the selection mechanism within legal, professional, and ethical frameworks.

We wish to make clear to all that the engagement of women in the Community Police Department is civilian in nature, distinct from the military service and police corps. Their presence in the community will allow them to be close to women who are exposed to extortion and social violence, so that those women can seek help without having to turn to men.
